Mind Mining is a method for defusing stress before it creates tension and pain (Tension-Based Pain) in our bodies. This exercise is a positive loop, using what we know about ourselves and our lives, and it allows us to use that intel to make our future better.

Our days unfold quickly and before we know it the day is done, however there is a lot of information collected during our waking hours that we can hack and turn to our advantage.

Here is a sample Mind Mining technique that takes an interaction that did not go well, and redevelops it to achieve peace.

SAMPLE:  I had a negative conversation with my boss today and I know I was right, but it quickly got heated. She said the production numbers were down for the last quarter and I said “That’s not true, the numbers are up” and she immediately got very defensive and wouldn’t let me explain.

After your Mind Mining exercise, you reveal who important things about this is situation:
  1. You’ve learned your boss does not handle being corrected very well.
  2. You discover the need to provide facts in a way that your boss can more easily accept.
So instead of saying “That’s not true, the numbers are up”, you could say “You’re right, it does appear that way, but when you look at the sales numbers you can see that ...” This approach delivers the needed information in a way that is helpful and non-threatening to your boss. This type of strategy is a win-win for you and your boss.

Not every situation can be resolved with this type method, but the more we can engineer our interactions to end in success - the easier our lives will be.

It can be helpful to write down what you’ve learned during the Mind Mining Process, so you can review it in the future and see how it has helped daily life going forward.

Mind Mining can be done by almost anyone and is a simple technique for reducing stress in advance to avoid the tension and pain it may create in our bodies in the future.
