![]() If a chiropractor is saying that tension in the spine muscles is causing occipital neuralgia (neck pain), the message he/she is sending is most likely that your answer may be found outside of their office. It does not seem to be a message that more sessions with a chiropractor will help. There is nothing wrong with chiropractic therapy, but other than offering short-term relief, it can do little to relax tightened muscles in the spine and neck. 1. Figure out what is causing the pain. All pain has a cause and figuring this out in the first step to dealing with hip and lower back pain.
